Inside the Atelier

Tucked away in Taznakht, our atelier is where the journey of each rug begins. These shelves hold naturally dyed threads each one carefully prepared by hand and waiting to be woven into something meaningful. It is here, among wool, color, and quiet dedication, that tradition is preserved and stories are born.

Hand Dyed with Roots, Herbs & Tradition

At Atelier Brouch, we honor ancestral techniques by using natural plants, roots, and herbs to dye our wool. From madder root and pomegranate peel to indigo and walnut husk, each pigment is extracted with care and patience, giving the wool its rich, earthy tones. This slow, mindful process not only preserves nature’s beauty but also ensures that every color tells a story rooted in Moroccan tradition.

Our Story, Founder & Purpose

Atelier Brouch was founded by Chadia Brouch, a woman born and raised in the heart of the Atlas Mountains, where the sound of looms and the scent of natural dyes shaped her earliest memories. Taught by her mother, Chadia inherited not just the techniques of Moroccan rug making, but the soul behind it a craft passed down from generation to generation, woman to woman.

Driven by a deep desire to preserve this ancestral art, she created Atelier Brouch to give traditional craftsmanship a place in the modern world. Each rug begins with raw Sirwa wool, carefully spun and dyed with ingredients like olive leaves, henna, and pomegranate. But the true beauty lies in the hands that bring these rugs to life.

We proudly collaborate with skilled Berber women artisans from the Taznakht region, whose talent, patience, and cultural wisdom shape every piece. Their work is not only artistic it is sacred, carrying generations of knowledge and pride.

Atelier Brouch exists to protect this heritage, to honor the women who sustain it, and to share their stories through timeless rugs that bring warmth, soul, and intention into the spaces they touch.

  • Regular Gentle Vacuuming

Use a vacuum without a rotating brush (or with the brush turned off) to gently remove dust and dirt. Vacuum in the direction of the weave to avoid pulling fibers. This helps maintain the rug's texture and preserves the natural dyes.

  • Spot Cleaning with Natural Soap

For small stains or spills, blot (don’t rub) the area with a clean, dry cloth. Then gently clean with a soft sponge and cold water mixed with a small amount of natural, unscented soap like Savon de Marseille or castile soap. Avoid soaking the area and let it air dry completely.

  • Air It Out Naturally

Every few months, take the rug outside on a dry, shaded day and gently shake off dust. Let it air out naturally, away from direct sunlight (to protect the colors). This freshens the wool and prevents humidity buildup.
